Author Jacqueline Sheehan will be our Special Guest

We are pleased to welcome New York Times Bestselling author Jacqueline Sheehan to add a special dimension to this year’s event. Jacqueline primarily writes novels however she will share a powerful true story with us that evening.

Jacqueline spent twenty years in Oregon, California, and New Mexico engaged in painting houses, photography, journalism, clerking in a health food store, and directing a traveling troupe of puppeteers. She became a psychologist on her way to becoming a novelist. Her novels include, The Comet’s Tale a novel about Sojourner Truth, Lost & Found, Now & Then, Picture This, The Center of the World, and The Tiger in the House. Many of her novels feature beloved dogs among the central characters.

Jacqueline also writes NPR commentaries, travel articles, and essays including the New York Times column, Modern Love.

Celebrity Host will be Maggie Slysz

Maggie Slysz will be joining us as the celebrity host at this year’s event. Maggie has become a dear friend to CCARC over the past several years being intricately involved with planning our spring event.

Maggie is part of the Morning News Team at Fox-61. She first joined FOX 61 in 2013 and has held a variety of roles over the years.

Formerly a reporter for The Bristol Press and The New Britain Herald, Maggie was named ‘Best Local Newscaster’ in the paper’s ‘Best of 2015’ awards, as voted by readers. With her Polish background, she spearheaded the launch of the paper’s Polish language section and covered local community stories entirely in the Polish language. In 2015, she was awarded the title of Little Poland Ambassador by the Polonia Business Association for her efforts and contributions to the Polish-American community in Connecticut.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Maggie is a Central Connecticut State University graduate.
